Composition Workshops

My composition workshops feature techniques and approaches that aim to inspire students and help them generate ideas. The content of the sessions is tailor-made for each group and therefore varies.

Areas that have been covered in the past include riff and melody writing, phrasing, structuring songs, instrumentation in different styles and writing scores appropriate for various genres of film.

The following testimonial is from a children’s workshop that used paper instruments as a basis for composition:

‘Tom was very engaging and knowledgeable about the subject. He was very helpful and gave a good explanation, whilst clearly demonstrating step by step what we had to do. He made this workshop fun and enjoyable for my daughter and I as well as everyone else’ – Rukhsana Saghir
