Ipswich Guitar Lessons
I am a friendly and patient RGT certified guitar tutor and music graduate based in Ipswich, Suffolk. Electric and acoustic guitar lessons are available both in-person and over Zoom for all levels and ages (please see Zoom Music Lessons for more info about online tuition).
I have worked in the music industry for 20 years in a variety of contexts, including performing Blues, Folk, Jazz and Rock across the London and Home Counties circuit and composing for a variety of TV programmes and films. The deep love I have for creating and performing music informs my tuition and means I’m always keen to tailor my lessons to students’ interests. I know how rewarding music can be and so want to ensure my students can experience whatever motivates and inspires them musically too.

My teaching approach is adaptable and I aim to make content as appropriate for each individual student as possible and tailored to their interests. I teach a variety of styles; everything from jazz, classical, pop and country to blues, rock and heavy metal.
I am also able to adapt guitar lessons to students with SEN and have 10 years of experience teaching guitar in an Autism Specialist School in Hertfordshire (Roman Fields, Hemel Hempstead) and with an autistic student in Delrow Community, Aldenham. In addition, I am proficient in BSL and offer specialised guitar lessons for Deaf students – please see this page for more info: Deaf Music Lessons: BSL Guitar Tuition

‘I have been taking lessons from Tom for a couple of months and I have noticed a huge difference in my technical ability, I now have a good grasp of basic theory and look forward to my lessons.’ – Adam Chiu, student
‘After a 15 year layoff from playing Tom helped kick my technique back into shape and improve my musical theory knowledge in short order. We have covered a variety of styles including Blues, Rock, Metal, and Gypsy Jazz and I thoroughly enjoy our lessons. He is always happy to adapt his teaching towards what you are most interested in learning. Highly recommended!’ – Gareth Jones
